Summer's here!

Hey hey little man,

How are you doing in there? You seem to be happy and very competent in aqua aerobics...unlike H and I who can just about manage one length in the pool before grabbing on to the end and doing "exercises" (really just flailing around). The weather is very warm at the moment...apparently yesterday was the hottest 12th June ever recorded. It was bloody hot. I am getting increasingly exhausted hauling myself around and on the tubes in this weather. Public transport in London in the summer is like a form of torture. And you get to pay for the privilege.

You have started doing different types of moves now. It kind of feels like you are sticking out an arm or leg and leaving it pushed out against my stomach. We have also started playing little games with you - your daddy was kissing my belly the other day and you were kicking him in the face. Was quite funny. You've also got rhythm already but that's to be expected with us as your parents!

We have finally booked a holiday and we're going in 11 days time for 2 weeks in sunny Kos. I'm really looking forward to swimming every day, relaxing in the sun with good books and eating lots of fresh food. We'll make sure we take lots of pics of my belly as well for you to see when you are older.

I was just thinking that by the time the next world cup comes around (it's on at the moment and everyone is caught up in world cup fever) you will be almost 4 years old. That is a very scary thought seeing as the last time the world cup happened I was working at the BBC and that doesn't seem too long ago at all.

plug in, baby

plug in baby

the other day your mamma, daddy and i all went on a picnic. i felt you kick a little. i played you some music. 'twist & shout' by the beatles didn't seem to do much for you, but 'hey baby' by bruce channel [or "the dirty dancing song", as your mamma called it] had you jumping and wiggling. we started playing 'pony' by ginuwine for you [for old times' sake] but then your daddy was like "wait wait he's too young for that!" [something about the lyrics...] so we played some jodeci - from the show, the afterparty, the hotel album that me and your mamma played to death when we were about 14 or 15 - and that chilled you out.

i know, i've been MIA

My dearest Zee

Please forgive me for my severe lack of posts as late. There was that whole pesky moving-back-from-NY thing, that kind of put a damper on things. Then there's been that also pesky post-NY bummed out thing that's been going on, along with still being unemployed. It's all just been one big bumfest. That sounds so wrong.

I don't really know what to say that your mamma hasn't already. It was exciting finding out you're a boy - means we can narrow things down a little in terms of - well, everything. Clothes, decoration... names... Mamasan already mentioned the Percy-Fabio thing - which, for the record, I'm not a part of, but does make me laugh. A lot. Hmm, what else. Oh, well me and your mamma finally went swimming the other day. It's something she's been trying to get me do for ages. And finally I couldn't back out any longer. I had to postpone it to the afternoon instead of the morning, but as I was coming back from the West End I texted her to say I was on my way back, get yer swimming kit together. And do you know what she did?? TRIED TO WEASEL OUT OF IT! Cheeky mare. When we did eventually get to the pool we were wondering what it would be like for you, in water, in water. I remember when I was younger I'd sometimes curl up and float underwater [if that phrase makes sense], listening to everything going on around me in a muffled way, wondering if this is what it was like in the womb. Were things more muffled for you, hearing it through your mamma's tummy and the water?

The sun has actually been shining here for the past couple days which has been nice. English summertime! And everyone is gearing up for the World Cup, of which I know very little, I have to say.

Anyway, the ad break for The OC is over, so I'm going to return my attention to the SoCal rich kid adventures.

Until later, little man, much love

your errant godmother-to-be xox

Percy Fabio

Hey there little one. I wonder how life is in there for you. You seem to be very happy and active which is good...getting bigger every day.

We're now at 25 weeks and been thinking hard about your name seeing as we now know that you're a boy. You have some mad aunties who are insisting on calling you Percy, Fabio or Percy-Fabio...names which I don't think you will be too happy about. However, it would be interesting to name you that and then you became a morris dancer!

We are now in June so only 3 and a bit more months to go until your appearance in the world is due. Everyone is looking forward to meeting you and they all are very interested in my ever expanding bump in which you are living. From now on I have doctors/hospital appointments every 2 weeks to make sure that everything is running smoothly.

So until the next update I shall submerge myself in world cup fever and happily be kicked by you.
