18.5 weeks and lots more hospital trips
What a week we had last week! Big Daddy S developed a severe abscess on his lower back which caused him mucho agony for 5 days until it got so bad that we had to make a trip to the A&E at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Arrived at around 7pm, was assessed by a nurse a little while later and finally seen by the doctor at 11pm. They decided to keep him in for observation over night until the surgeon could come down and inspect the problem in the morning. A surgeon did manage to come and see him at around midnight so they took him up to the ward at about 2am and I ended up going home at 4am.
Came back the next morning on my way to work to be told they were about to take him in to the operating theatre within the next 10 minutes - then they didn't come back for a few hours! Typical NHS. So we spent the day hanging around waiting for more news, harassing the nurses for stronger painkillers and poor S was so thirsty as he was nil by mouth all day. Finally took him in at 9pm and he was knocked out by the general anaesthetic for the rest of the night. Got to take him home the next day for lots of bed rest and many, many pills. Looks like there will be quite a few weeks off work for him to recuperate but at least he's not in agony any more.
So that's been the latest excitement. I think you may be destined to be a kickboxer or perhaps a morris dancer (please no) as you are currently walloping my insides practising flying kicks and roundhouse turns. If you're this active at almost 19 weeks I dread to think what you'll be up to in a couple of months. And with your daddy's long legs too....I think I'm in for a long, hot summer. Now i'm off to make H post a long overdue entry as she seems to have forgotten all about you.
